My Website

Please take a look at my website. It has truly been a joy creating it. I feel quite a sense of accomplishment now that I have tackled some of these new technologies. I feel much more confident about my use of technology and how I can incorporate it into the classroom. Enjoy!

  1. Lisa, it was a pleasure perusing your site! First off, I really liked your podcast...you sounded like a professional podcaster. I can definitely see you working with this technology in your classroom. Secondly, I appreciate your classroom implications. On nearly every link you gave specific ideas of when and how to use the projects in your classroom. As someone who is also working towards being a TESOL teacher at the elementary level I appreciate it greatly.

Lastly, I really love the passion that one can sense as you talk about your classroom and how you plan to incorporate projects and technology into it. Hopefully, you'll rub off on others. It was a pleasure reading your site.

  2. The ideas, projects, and reflective writing you included on your website make your digital portfolio truly sophisticated. I liked how your opening page contains both a quote related to the course and information about you. In addition, the template you selected gives the portfolio a clean, modern appearance. I also enjoyed the creative projects you posted on the site. Your educational philosophy podcast was clear and well composed. It was a great idea to emphasize in the philosophy that the integration of technology into curriculum is part of a standards-based education.

Your non-linear PowerPoint on the parts of speech was also very well done. What I liked most about the PowerPoint is the way in which you conveyed the information. You took a differentiated approach and demonstrated each part of speech through definitions, through examples, and through images. The images you selected were of an excellent quality as well. Your digital essay is heartwarming and engaging. I can see using it as an exemplar in a classroom setting when students prepare to create their own digital stories (by the way, your dog Willy is adorable). The Photoshop image you designed is also very creative and -- as you noted --says a lot about your interests. Your digital portfolio demonstrates a well-balanced combination of your commitment to education and who you are personally. Thanks for sharing your projects and ideas!

  3. Website:
I am absolutely loving your website! I think your home page is well thought out and gives the audience a better understanding of how you have been educated and who you are as a teacher. Your detailed pages, like Shelfari and Non-Linear PowerPoint were well executed and informative.
    Blog:
I think your background really tells the audience about your personality. I liked all the photographs and images/videos you posted along with your explanations, reflections, and comments. It was easy to read and follow. The Cinderella Wordle is unique and timeless!
    Overall:
I loved how you used so many images of dogs in your PhotoShop, Blog, and Website. That was a great idea to express your interests. Good Luck in your journey at Fairfield U!

  4. Lisa -

First I also went to UConn and am a die hard UConn fan! I know you transferred but I just wanted to point that out! I love the opening quote on your homepage, it really hits home with how the nation is effecting education. The look of your website and blog is very cute. I like how you were able to embed the blog right into your website so you didn't need to open another window. I took this time to browse your blog and fell in love with your Cinderella wordle! It is creative, adorable and perfect for elementary school! Having students create their own wordles on their favorite movies would be a great assignment! The non-linear powerpoint was awesome. It is such a great idea and something you can really use again inside of the classroom! Allowing students to navigate through to discover the parts of speech is really a great idea, perfect for centers! Your photo story was adorable! First, you have a great speaking voice! It took me a little while to figure out if you were reading a story or if it was your own script! It is a great elementary school teacher reading voice. The story yourself was very well done, nice and simple transitions as well. Your wiki on shelfari - is a great site! I have never heard it before but after exploring it for awhile, its a great site! I love how its like a website/library at the same time.
Overall, I loved your webpage and your blog. You can tell you spent a lot of time working on everything. Through your projects you were able to learn alot about you as well which is great and a great way to connect to your students! Good luck and have a great summer!

  5. Review of Lisa’s Blog and Website
    By Amanda Stote

    Blog
I really liked how most of blogs incorporated your own experience in the classroom. As someone who has not taught their own class yet, it is very interesting to hear a teacher’s perspective. For example, in your blog about Nonlinear Power Points you stated that it is unlikely that a traditional Power Point could keep third graders attention; however, a nonlinear Power Point probably could. I also agree with your blog about Inspiration. You said Inspiration outlines are more motivating for students and very helpful to ELL students.

    Website
You website was easy to navigate and visually appealing. I loved how you had a quote from Raw Materials on your home page. It grabbed my attention. I thought you did an outstanding job on your Nonlinear Power Point about parts of speech. It looked very professional. All of the links worked and the graphics looked great. It looked like you spent a lot of time on it. I was also really impressed with your Photo Story. Lucy’s story was very interesting. The pictures and narrations that went along with the story had perfect timing. It is obvious you are comfortable with technology learned in the class and I am sure your students will benefit.
